CIC is Prime Ministar’s top Priority Project to north-eastern state and Sikkim which started from 17th August 2002. Under this project a well equipped computer centre with VSAT connectivity to Internet, is set up in all Dev. Blocks. This Project is Implemented by Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT), Govt .of India with the help of NIC (National Informatics Centre) and State Government’s Industries and Commerce Department.
In Dhubri District there are 13 CIC centre out of 14 Dev.Block, which are showing good performance in creating IT awareness among the rural people. The centres already make a large numbers of people computer literate and IT aware.
On this occasion of one year completion of CIC in Dhubri District, a meeting cum workshop has been organized by all the CIC and NIC District Unit on 7th August 2003 in Dhubri District Library premises for popularizing CIC among people. The meeting was presided over by the Deputy Commissioner Dhubri, Sri Prasanta Kumar Barua. This meeting was also attended by Mr. Diganta Barman, PSA, State NIC Unit and Mr. Hemanta Saikia, PSA, State NIC Unit as Chief guest. Dr. K. Zaman, Ex-Principal, B.N.College, Dhunri and Sri Debendra Nath Sarma Ex-Lecturer, B.N.College, Dhubri also attended the meeting as guest of honour. In this meeting web sites of four Dev. Blocks have been inaugurated viz Rupshi, Debitola, Agomani and Gauripr. In this meeting DIO (District Informatics Officer) Mr. Kailash Katila explain the status and achievement of Different CICs.
This was followed by a workshop cum interaction session between the Deputy Commissioner & Chairman DLCC, NIC officials, CIC Operators, Custodian, other Govt. officers and general public. In this Workshop Deputy Commissioner and NIC officials reviewed the performance and problems of various CICs and express satisfaction on the performance of CIC in Dhubri. Deputy Commissioner also praise the CIC Operators for their sincere service to the community.
