Since commissioning Numaligarh Refinery has been continuously serving its neighbourhood, Golaghat District and State of Assam through its community development programme. In a statement NRL inform local press that till March 2004, NRL invest Rupees Two Crores approximate for the developments of agriculture, education, infrastructure, community health in the areas within 10 kilometers of the Refinery.

The life-time achievement award went to Ms Gyanada Kakoti. Dinabandhu, directed by Munin Barua, bagged the best feature film award, whereas Kadambari, directed by Bani Das, bagged the popular film award. Actor Jatin Bora got the best actor award for his performance in Kadambari. The best actress award was bagged by Konki Bordoloi (Anurag). For her moving performance in Laaz, Jaffrin bagged the best child artiste award. Jubeen Garg bagged the best male playback singer for his rendition in Rong.
Though the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the fire broke out from an electric short circuit in a part of the main administrative building at around 6.40 pm. The fire spread quickly and engulfed the entire building before the arrival of fire tenders, who had to fight for hours to bring the fire under control.
Taking stock of the situation in the college which was abysmal with no repair and new construction over the last few years due to paucity of funds, the Chief Minister directed the authorities to speed up upgradation of the girls’ and boys’ hostels, library, laboratories, college buildings, etc., with the funds which would be made available.
In a meeting attended by JB Singh, Education Commissioner and Chief Engineer of PWD and Public Health, among others, a thorough discussion was held on the improvement of the college.
“The SEBA has completed all the necessary arrangements to hold the HSLC and the Assam High Madrassa (AHM) examinations as per schedule all over the State, that is from February 25,” SEBA Secretary Dilwar Hussain said in a statement.
A total of 3,40,277 candidates are appearing in the examination through 720 centres throughout the State. For conducting the examinations, 1,400 teachers, 800 supervising officers and 80 zonal supervising officers are needed. It may be mentioned that the supervising officers also comprise of teachers.
