The Union Government has decided to confer the KABIR PURASKAR ( Grade –II) for 2005 to Mohammed Aynal Hoque of Bilasipara Town, District- Dhubri, Assam for his courageous effort in averting an agitated crowd from turning violent. The announcement of the Award to Md. Aynal Hoque has been made on 2nd October, 2005 as per provisions of the Kabir Puraskar Scheme. The award carries a cash amount of Rs.50,000 in Grade-II alongwith a certificate of suitable citation.

KABIR PURASKAR is a National award instituted by the Government of India in 1990 to give recognition to the acts of physical and moral courage displayed by a member of one caste, community or ethnic group in saving the lives and properties of another caste, community or ethnic group during caste, community or ethnic violence.

Mohammad Aynal Hoque age 28 who is an active social worker and also President of Bilasipara Thana advisory Committee, Village defence party (V.D.P), Bilasipara Police station. Mr. Hoque is honoured with the prestigious KABIR PURASKAR as an acknowledgement of exemplary courage shown while pacifying an agitated crowd. On October 2, 2004 NDFB ultras attacked Makrijhara village under Bagribari P.S, Dist-Dhubri(Assam) leaving 13 persons dead and 10 others seriously injured. The shocking attack led to palpable tension in the area and thousands of people gathered at the spot. The mob soon became very violent and blocked the National Highway. Hoque at the risk of his life intervened and made all efforts to control and pacify the violent mobs. He alerted the Bagribari Police station and an ugly situation was prevented from happening. Due to his efforts the situation threatening to escalate into ethnic violence was brought under control. His sincere effort in handling that critical law and order situation certainly saved the life and property of many people and also was helpful in maintaining communal harmony.

The date of the presentation of the award to Shri Hoque would be intimated by the Ministry of Home Affairs through State Government at an appropriate time.
